Samuel Baker, an economics student at UCF with a passion for sustainability, led his team to victory at the 2022 Joust New Venture Competition with Wriggle Brew, an innovative organic worm tea fertilizer that also functions as a pesticide. Made by soaking worm-accelerated compost in water, Wriggle Brew delivers essential nutrients to plants and promotes rapid growth. Baker’s compelling pitch earned his team $15,000 and over $50,000 in business services, beating out 16 semifinalists.

The competition, hosted by UCF’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, celebrated student ventures with social impact, and Baker now plans to expand Wriggle Brew’s reach by pursuing new business opportunities.
