The 18-credit Entrepreneurship Minor provides students from all academic disciplines with entrepreneurial mindsets and skillsets needed to improve career readiness and resilience. Those interested in working for established organizations will benefit by learning modern skills employers seek to promote innovation and sustain success. Those interested in self-employment will benefit by learning how to pursue startup ventures, freelancing, contracting, “side hustles”, and other career options.
Coursework emphasizes experiential learning that develops personal initiative, empathy, creativity, critical thinking, communication, leadership, teamwork, resourcefulness, and business acumen. The curriculum seeks to capitalize on students’ disciplinary expertise, and many students will be able to apply up to 6 credits of design, innovation, or entrepreneurship courses required by their major toward this minor (reducing the requirements to 12 credits unique to this minor). Combining broad entrepreneurial thinking skills with deep discipline-based expertise will empower participants to achieve success in a wide range of career challenges and opportunities.
